Original copper printing plate, 4 1/2" x 7", mounted on wooden block of a drawing by Mary Petty that was published in the New Yorker magazine. The image depicts two very fashionable women seated on a sofa having a cup of tea in an apartment setting. (We do not have information as to when this cartoon appeared but was prior to May, 1966.) Excellent condition. New Jersey native Mary Petty (1899-1976) was an American born illustrator of books and magazines as is best known for her covers and interior drawings for the New Yorker featuring members of her created "Peabody family". Her first drawing in the magazine appeared in 1927 and she continued to contribute until 1966. fine (Item ID: GE20094)
