Generally a very good set, deaccessioned from a university library and so stamped on the title pages; some wear at the spine ends and edges of both volumes, aprox 1" split at the top front gutter of Vol. II. Text blocks are tight, various stages of foxing throughout. Prev. own bookplates front pastedowns of both volumes. Sydney Owenson, Lady Morgan (ca. 1776-1859) was an Irish born author who began her literary career with a small volume of poetry and who also wrote lyrics for traditional Irish tunes. She turned to writing novels in 1804, producinmg her most notable work, "The Wild Irish Girl" in 1806. She later produced works on life in France and followed that work with this one on Italy.
