Pigs Is Pigs

New York: Doubleday, Page, 1910. 24mo. (4 1/2" x 6 1/2") in pale green cloth hardcovers lettered and decorated in orange and black. Later printing (first was 1906). 37 pp. Illustrations by Will Crawford. Very good, warm, lenghty Christmas gift inscription dated Dec. 25, 1912 on front free endpaper. Butler's most famous humorous short story in which a stationmaster insists on levying a 50-cent charge as "livestock" for a shipment of two guinea pigs. When the shipper balks at paying, the animals breed like, well, like guinea pigs and soon number in the hundreds. Very Good Hardcover (Item ID: E23110)
