Hardcover in olive green buckram cloth lettered in gilt and decorated with s steaming chafing dish in silver and a cupid in red. 133 pp. with index. Illustarted with drawings by Francis Day and George R. Halm. Good, spoting about the edges of the front cloth and over most of the rear cover. An unusual cookbook (sort of) featuring anecdotal chapters of group of late Victorian bachelors and their culinary adventures; as they visit each other, they prepare dishes and beverages which are described in prose rather than recipe form. There are also culinary poetry and classical quotations. The second portion of the book features actual recipes for salads and sauces, meats, seafood, omlettes, etc. Good Hardcover (Item ID: E22842)
