War Birds: Diary Of An Unknown Aviator

1951. First edition thus N. pl., n. pub. (probably Liberty Magazine). Color illustrated wrappers. 156 pp. Illustrated with drawings and photographs. Very good. Diary of volunteer American flyers who went to Europe in 1917 to fight in World War One. The diary was written by Grider, who was killed in action. It came into the possession of his friend Elliot White Springs who had a small edition of 210 copies printed for him by Doran in 1926. One of those reached Liberty Magazine which published it in serial form and eventually trade editions were published in the U.S., England and Australia. Very Good Softcover (Item ID: E21784)
