Former classics professor's ownership stamp on the front free end paper and blind stamp on the title page. Dust jacket is in near fine condition, a very small closed tear on the spine, and some yellowing to the back panel. 334 pages with index. Author also wrote "The Rise of the West", winner of the 1964 National Book Award for history, and reviewed as "the most stimulating and facinating book that has ever set out to recount and explain the whole history of mankind" by the New York Times Book Review.
