Douglas Fairbanks: The Fourth Musketeer

New York: Henry Holt, 1953. First edition First edition. Hardcover. 276 pp. Illustrated with photographs. Very good, couple of pages have some edge foxing. In pictorial dust jacket, somewhat worn and with fade to the spine strip. Biography of early motion picture megastar Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. Co-authored by his niece Letitia, the book traces Fairbank's public and private lives from his not-quite-so- happy boyhood in Denver to his Broadway struggles and his dizzying Hollywood successes. Along the way, he met Mary Pickford, left his first wife for her (together they help found United Artists)and the couple remained happy until his stardom began to slip while she was still a top star. Much behind the scenes early Hollywood stuff as well as a great many personal memories and inside family stories. Very Good Hardcover (Item ID: E19616)
