New York: Random House Beginner Books, 1961. First edition First edition. Hardcover in glossy color illustrated paper covered boards. Illustrated endpapers. 64 pp. Illustrated by P.D. Eastman. A tight, bright example, some foxing to the endpapers. In the original dust jacket (195/195 top corner of front flap and Beginner Books list on rear panel including this title third from last, the following two also published in 1961). Jack is very good or a bit better, bit of light soiling to the front panel and light, unbroken creasing top portion of rear panel. Written by Helen Palmer Geisel (1899-1967) , first wife of Theodore (Dr. Seuss) Geisel. Palmer met Ted Geisel at Oxford University and they married in 1927. Seuss relied heavily on Helen's support encouragement and editorial input throughout their lives together. Helen became ill with cancer and committed suicide in 1967.
