Unit history of New Jersey National Guard's 102nd Cavalry, the "Essex Troop", organized in 1890 in Newark. Th unit volunteered for servicein the Spanish-American War but was not called up; it trained at Sea Girt in the first decade of the 20th century, saw service on the Meican Border in 1916 and was shipped to France during World War I.
