Reno: A Book of Stories and Information
Stratton, Lilyan

Newark, NJ: Colyer Printing Co., 1921. First First printing. Deep red cloth lettered in black, 286 pps. illustrated with photos and scenic views by the Van-Noy Interstate Company of San Francisco. A scarce title in the even scarcer dust jacket, which here is good only, well rubbed and with old internal tape repairs. An affectionate look at Reno, Nevada, "the big little city on the Truckee River", from the early 20th century. The author's introduction is highly defensive about Reno's reputation of a quickie-divorce town: "This book is not written with any intention whatsoever to propagate divorce...To me there are three things sacred above all others: ...motherhood...marriage...home." A tight copy, generally fine with a small dampstain lower front corner. (Item ID: D7610)
