INSCRIBED AND DATED 7/7/89 BY THE AUTHOR ON THE COLOPHON PAGE AND SIGNED AGAIN ON THE TITLE PAGE; in both places the author uses his nickname "Skip". Charming and engrossing novel of a crew of motley misfits from the Ozarks who travel to San Francisco in late '60s. Hays' first book, "The Dixie Association" received much critical acclaim and a PEN/Faulkner nomiation. Books signed by Hays are quite scarce. A very fine, unused copy in equally fine dust jacket.
