Islands In The Stream

New York: Scribners, 1970. First edition of the first posthumously published Hemingway book. A novel of a young painetr on Bimini in the 1930s, whose loneliness and daily routine is broken by a visit from his three young sons (some of the finest fishing episodes apperas here). We see the same man some years later in wartime Havana, engaged in a secret mission to track German submarines. One of Hemingway's most vivid characterizations appears here--that of Honest Lil, an aging Havana prostitute. A fine copy on fine, price clipped dust jacket. (Item ID: D307)
