Frontis engraving of a snowbound cottage under a full moon with tiny Santa Claus on the roof and a small reindeer team and sliegh parked in the lane. 213 pp. Religious-themed juvenile story with the final four chapters being Christmas-related, the last chapter about Santa Claus. Tight, very good example with all gilt very clear but with fade to the cloth of the spine and top half of the front board. Faint tidemarking along the top edge of the text block. The frontispiece plate is one of the earliest American depictions of Santa Claus on the roof-top and with his sleigh as popularized in Moore's "Night Before Christmas" Very Good. Item #CH155
