Lowell: E.A. Rice, 1841. Hardcover. 12mo. hardcover in dark green cloth with spine lettered in gilt. vii+ 204 pp. Erratum slip tipped in at the contents page. Some rippling to the cloth and shallow wear at the spine ends, old ownership signature front free endpaper. Lorenzo Dow (d. 1834) was an intinerant American evalgelist during the Great Awakening period. He was rather an eccentric but his preaching was extremely popular everywhere but in the South (he was a staunch abolitionist) and his autobiogarphy was at one time the second only to the Bible in sales in the United States. He was in fact so popular that the 1850 census shows "Lorenzo" as one of the most popular first names. Very Good. Item #ZE17945
