Typed Letter Signed to a Boston Bookseller regarding Purchase of Books about the Brontes

1948. manuscript. Typed letter dated 1948, signed in full in ink. Braithwaite writes to a Boston bookseller regarding the purchase of books about Charlotte Bronte and the Bronte sisters (for which he apparently included a check for $3.25). He also inquires about three other Bronte-related works for which he is searching. Mailing folds, a small pencil notation in the upper corner indicating that a check for $3.25 was included and a date of receipt stamp. William Braithwaite (1878-1962) was a prominent African-American poet, author, anthologist and editor. His first volume of poetry. "Lyrics of Life and Love", was published in 1904; his work about the Brontes, "Bewitched Parsonage" appeared in 1950. Item #X216
