The title page subtitle reads "Conceived and Adapterd for the Stage by Stephen Currens From Eighteen Stories by Edward Gorey". Inhis typical fashion, Gorey has drawn a line through his printed name and signed his full name immediately to the right. The full script (but not the musical score) for the play that, after 15 preview performances at the Booth Theater in New York, "Gorey Stories" opened and closed on October 30, 1978. The dialog consists mostly of the exact wording from the Gorey stories. Gorey did the set design as well as the costume design (though there are no illustrations in the script printing), as he had for the hugely successful "Dracula" that premiered a year earlier.
