Tales The Moon Can Tell
Copenhagen: Berlingske Forlag/ The Andersen Museum, 1955. Limited ed. Softcover. Folio in slightly oversized gray stiff wrappers printed in brown. Issued in 1000 copies with Danish text and 100 copies with English text (of which this is one). 81 pp. Very good, some toning to the coves and shalow creasing about the oversized edges. Interior clean. Originally published in1839, a collection of short pieces described by Andersen to a friend "... the idea is that the moon describes some incident every evening to a poor lad in his garret..." and that stands out as a poetic parallel to one of the most popular works of the romantic aga of piano music, Mendelssohn's "Songs Without Words" whose first part appeared five years earlier. This edition, issued by The andersen Museum in 1955 is graced by charming, haunting sketches by Marlie Brande. Very Good. Item #WE25076
