Item #WE22716 Little Pussy Willow. Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Little Pussy Willow

Boston: Fields, Osgood & Co., 1870. First edition. Hardcover. Scarce. First edition. Slim, square 8vo. in emerald green cloth decorated and lettered in gilt and black. 123 pp. Illustrated with engravings in the text. Very good, shallow wear at the spine ends and a bit at tips, spine gilt somewhat dulled. A thoroughly charming children's book by the author of the rather more famous "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Set in New England, it features plants (Mother Fern, Mistress Liverwort, Pussy Willow) who grow outside the window of a new baby and give her gifts (blue eyes, the gift of thrift and prudence, and from Pussy Willow, the gift of "..always seeing the bright side everything.." as well as her name). We follow her as she grows into young womanhood. Very Good. Item #WE22716
