Rare collection of poems, songs, light verse, parodies, ballads, etc. of the South, printed during the Civil War. Some 150 pieces includeing several about Civil War battles (Fort Sumter, Manassas, Bethel Church, Bull Run) Southern patriotic pieces, anti-Union pieces ("Yankee Vandals", "The Federal Vandals"). Though this copy is tight and clean, the leather spine strip is significantly crascked and about half peeled away. Old previous ownership stamp appears on the front pastedown, upper corner of the title page, author's note and rear pastedown. A remarkable collection of material which movingly portrays the soul of the South during the great conflict. Item #F304
