Detailed account of the Sioux uprising of 1862 in Minnesota. Author Daniel Buck, who served on the Minnesota Supreme Court, arrived in the region in 1857 and was witness to many of the events described herein. Buck gives attention to many of the local events that took place in scttared sections throughout the state and have been often overlooked in accounts of that bloody period which culminated with the execution of 38 Indians in Mankato on Dec. 26, 1862.
