Rebound in tan cloth with leather spine label lettered in gilt. Affixed to the front pastedown is a one-page holograph letter to Melville E. Stone from Sir Roderick Jones. Jones writes warmly and signs the note "The Writer of the Introduction" . Both men were prominent in the news industry--Stone was chief of the Associated Press and Jones headed the Reuters news agency. At the time of publication, author Henry Collins was the sole remaining member of the Reuters organization regieme under its founder Baron Julius de Reuter. These are his personal recollections of a career in newsgathering largely spent in the Middle East, Russia and Australia as well as in South Africa during the Boer War.
