Mosquitoes (First Edition in Later Edition Dust Jacket)
New York: Boni & Liveright, 1927. First edition. Hardcover. First edition. Navy blue cloth lettered in yellow. Patterned endpapers. 349 pp. Novel of a group of self-impressed social non-entiities (boring, buzzing parasites, hence the title) aboard the yacht of a New Orleans matron. In this early novel, Faulkner revealed a more witty, urbane side, producing a work much different from the grim "Soldier's Pay" and "Sound and The Fury". Very good example, some rubbing to the spine lettering, tiny previous owner's signature top corner of the verso of the front free endpaper. Supplied is the dust jacket from the circa 1950 "New Edition" published by Liveright after Faulkner won the Nobel Prize. The jacket features the deco-styled illustration of the characters playing cards aboard the yacht and is in fine condition. Very Good / fine. Item #E6945
