Agnes in Search of Truth; and Other Sketches (with ornate hand drawn ownership identifications)

New York: American Tract Society, 1872. First edition. Hardcover. First printing. 12mo. hardcover in dark mustard cloth ornately lettered in gilt and decorated in black. The front free endpaper has two different ownership identifications in the ornate hand of one Miss Lizzie Gravatt, one in ink a presentation notation that the book was a gift of her teacher Ella V. Applegate; the other in pencil, an ornately hand written name and design. The following blank has an ornate, fractur-like ornate drawing in blue and red pencil with Lizzie's name, a dog, and a bird. The book itself is 184 pp. , very good with some light soiling to the cloth and occasional foxing to the text. Lower corner tidemarking to the pages not affecting any text. A typical collection of instructional, uplifting tales for young women such as "Agnes in Search of truth", "The Strait and narrow Way", "Was She Innocent?", "Dora's Cogitations", "Living in Pleasure", etc. Very Good.
