It chronicles between those dates the producer's highly developed , sophisticated madness---such as negotiations over a proposed chain of restaurants to be named after his hit movie, "Alice's Restaurant"; Hilly's marriage to actress Claire Bloom; producing the films "A New Leaf" and "The $100.000 Misunderstanding"; producing Ibsen for claire; tribulations with Kurt Vonnegut over "Cat's Cradle", and wheeling and dealing over half a dozen other projects.
