Cunningham's book about the, a history of agriculture in the Garden State. The author, along with presenting general historical information, divides the book into chapters on the various agricultural products for which the state was known in the mid-1950s (and in many cases still is today): eggs and poultry, "green growers" of corn, vegetables, etc, "The Love Apple" (tomatoes), dairy,livestock (beef cattle, lambs, pigs), potatoes, peaches, cranberries, lumber, etc. Cunningham provides as well the numbers of farmers and acres for each, the gross amounts sold both in product and dollars.
