Though held by various institutions, remarkably scarce to find in private hands; we can find and are unaware of other copies for sale to the public. The work contains, in addition to genealogical charting, entries include biographical information where known, transcripts of wills, excerpts of journals, and other historical background information. Genealogical study of the Arnold family traces its history to Nicholas Arnold, born in 1550 in Northover, Somerset, England. The first to come to America was William Arnold (1587-1675) who emigrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony in New England in 1635. Part II concerns the Maught family from 1758 to 1991, descended from a private soldier in the Ansbach/Bayreuth Company, First Regiment of German Hessian mercenaries in the American Revolutionary War. Andrew (Andreas Heinrich) Maagd (Maught) arrived in the autumn of 1777 with a ship full of Hessian soldiers. Captured at the Battle of Yorktown, and moved to Frederick, Maryland, he was released in 1783 and like many of the German troops chose to remain in America. Part III deals with the Richard family in Frederick County, Maryland from 1809 to 1991. Part IV covers in significantly lesser detail some related families (Rice, Green , Legg, Blessing, Boyer, Bpwlus, Buxton, DeLashmutt, Easterday, Guynton, Horine, Long, and Young. Fine. Item #E34518
