In dust jacket with Morrow imprint (book has the Walter J. Black imprint on spine and title page, wear and shallow chipping about the egdes and flap folds. Della Street gets a desperate-sounding telephone call with the cryptic message, "I'm sending you an envelope stuffed with money. You've got to help me Mr. Mason..." But Perry isn't quite sure who his client is, didn't know if she was alive or dead! And Paul Drake couldn't decide if he was trailing suspects---or leading the killer to the necxt victim.
