Born in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn but growing up after age eight in West Baltimore, Anthony became one of the top high school players after he sprouted to 6' 5". He played one college season at Syracuse (2002-3) helping the Orangemen to their first NCAA title. He then declared himself eligible for the 2003 NBA draft and was chosen third overall by the Denver Nuggets. After eight seasaons he joined the New York Knicks for seven seasons, and his 20-year NBA career has also included stops in Houston, Portland, Okalhoma City, and Los Angeles (the Lakers) .
