Unusal Depression era book dealing with the agricrude alcohol industry that "..takes its rise in agricultural products and restores to the farmer the glory that is his desert...". The author, a consultant with Dow Chemical, examines natural chemical use in agriculture. specifically alcohol by-products and other organics and, with a rather evangelistic approach, praises it as a boon not only to the farm economy and farmer's well-being ('chemonomics") but as a replacement for fossil fuel use ("poison-spreading gasoline"). In additon to the scientific material, Hale expounds on the social and economic features of this agritude as a means for the farmer to take back independence from large industry and as "The End of Unemployment" as the penultimate chapter is titled.
