Fine in bright, crisp dust jacket with the only flaw being a shallow tear bottom edge of the front panel. The reminiscences of William Thomas Poague who served four years in the artillery of the Army of Northern Virginia in the Civil War. His first service was with the Rockbridge Artillery, which he commanded from April 1862 to April 1863. After Chancellorsville he ws promoted to lieutenant. colonel. His manuscript diary was discovered by Monroe Cockrell who attended VMI during the period that Poague was treasurer of that institution. Though the jacket boldly proclaims "First Time Published", it was actually first issued by an obscure publisher in 1957. Fine / fine. Item #E26606
