New York: St. Martin's Press, 1989. First edition. Hardcover. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. 306 pp. Illustrated with photos. Generally fine, gift inscroption front pastedown virtually hidden by the jacket flap. In bright, crisp dust jacket. Autobiography of baseball star Don Baylor (1949-2017). In addition to getting hit by pitches, Baylor had a knack of playing for or managing winning teams. His major league career began in 1970 (he only played in 8 games that year and only one the following season) with the Baltimore Orioles. Over his 19-year career, he also played for the Athletics, Angels (he won the AL MVP Award in 1979 with a league-leading 139 RBI), Yankees, Red Sox, and Twins. During that time, he appeared in the AL Championship Series seven times and the World Series three times. After his playing days ended (and after this book was written), Baylor managed the Colorado Rockies (1993-1998) and Chicago Cubs (2000-2002). Baylor also was on several major leach coaching squads.
