God Have Mercy On Me! from the Diaries of a Lost Soul (in original dust jacket)

New York: Macalay, 1931. Hardcover. Hardcover in light gray linen cloth lettered in red. 306 pp. plus publisher's ads at rear. A tight, very good or somewhat better copy, a touch of fade about the edges of the boards and a small bump to the outer edge of the front board. In the very scarce and strikingly designed original dust jacket, very good, with shallow faults to the extremities. In this follow up to her first compilation "No Bed Of Roses", "...the actual diaries of a prostitute and dope fiend are continued, beginning with the New Year's Eve that ended the last chapter of No Bed Of Roses and ending five years later with her release from [New York City's] Welfafe Island where she had committed herself for narcosan treatment...". The woman, identified only as "O.W." moves from efforts from reform to collaspe a sher efforts to rescue herself groe more and more feeble; each time she starts to prosper, drugs and drink bring her to some new outrage that throws her back on the streets. Very Good / very good. Item #E26015
