(Roosevelt loathed to be called "Teddy" to his face and the nickname was studiously avoided by family, friends, and aquaintances, but author Eaton claimed in the foreword, "Since the name 'Roosevelt' has been used in the title, it may be of public interest to know that President Roosevelt and his boys have been pleased with the story as it has appeared in serial form."
