The Hudson (Inscribed and with Four Line Holograph Poem)

Square 8vo. in tan cloth ornately lettered and decorated in black and gilt with image of old sailing ship (presumably the "Half Moon") cruising in the Hudson Highlands. All edges gilt. 37 pps. with frontis and 13 other engraved vignettes by Alfred Fredericks. INSCRIBED ON THE FIRST BLANK: "Mrs __________/ with the compliments of the author/ Wallace Bruce/ On the Hudson/ Oct. 1 1897" and with a four line handwritten verse beneath initialed "W.B". The second edition. Lovely book of short poetic works about the Hudson River, divided into four sections: The Catskills, The Adirondacks, The Highlands, and The Tappan Zee. Internally clean, tight copy, some moderate wear at the extremities. Cover gilt bright, spine lettering somewhat less so. Item #E2568
