A "bonus baby" signed out of Brooklyn, he joined the Dodgers in 1955 but it was not until they moved to Los Angeles in 1958 that he contolled wildness of his hopping fastball and deadly curve and became the ames top pitcher. Koufax won three Cy Young awards, pitched four non-hiires including a perfect game, set the NL record for single season strikeouts, pitched in 5 World Series (three of which the Dodgers won) but an athritic elbow forced to retire at age 31 after the 1966> He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
