Written in 1809, the memoirs of John Greenwood, a Massachusetts cod fisherman who in 1775 joined the 26th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army as a fifer at age 16. He was responsible for designing George Washington's famous dentures (that, contrary to popular myth, were not made of wood but rather of hippopotamus tusk). He died in New York in 1819. New.
