Interior clean. Erskine's Gospel Sonnets" , originally published in 1726, was one of the most widely popular book of its type in the 18th century. In addition to the six original verse pieces, in editions later in the 1700s and early 1800s contained a biographical sketch of Erskine; the American editions printed a poem dedicated to Erskine "By A Lady In New-England" and there was a final 2-page piece "Smoking Spiritualized, in Two Parts", "...the second part of which was wrote by Mr. Erskine {here} inserted, as aproper subject on Meditation to Smokers of Tobacco."
