Fine in very good, price clipped dust jacket, some wear to the extremities and touch of spine fade. Jacket design features the Willard Mullin portrait drawing of Campanella (this jacket varies considerably from that of the A.S. Barnes first edition). Sports biography of Brooklyn Dodgers catcher and Hall of Famer Roy Campanella. After a number of years in the Negro Leagues, Campanella joined the Dodgers in 1948, the season follwing Jackie Robinson's appearance. He was a lynchpin of the great Dodgers teams of the late 40s and 1950s, winning three National League MVP awards and appearing in five World Series. His career was cut short when during the winter of m1957-58 he was in a one car auto accident that left him a quadraplegic. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969 and died in 1993.
