Affixed to the front free nedpaper is a folder 5 paragraph typewritten letter dated October 5th, 1925 to a Dr. John A. Marquis (also in New York City but no indication that this is a relative). In it, the author asks for the recipient's "personal reactions" to the play and asking to be put in touch with people willing to finance a stage production. He goes on to say that several New York producers are interested and some have announced it for production but that "upon mature reflection I have decided to produce it myself..." He also states that his goal was to raise $50,000 and that so far he had succeeded in raising $27,000. The play was a drama based on the final hours of Jesus, set the Garden of Gethsemene, in Pilate's palace, and on Golgotha. It opened on Broadway at the New Amersterdam Theater on November 14, 1932 and closed the same month. Fine / very good. Item #E23141
