Born Fania Borach in Manhattan in 1891, she dropped out of school to appear in a burlesque revue at age 19. She came to the attention of Flo Ziegfeld and was a headiner by 1910-11. It was in the 1921 Follies that she sang what would become her signature song, "My Man". She starred on the stage, on radio and in film and she was the subject of "Funny Girl" where she was played by Babbara Streisand both on stage in 1964 and again in the 1968 film. Fine / fine.
