Two volumes in one (268 and 242 pps.). Wiley & Putnam's Library of Choice Reading. Originally published in London in the same year. Classic work on travels to Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon and Greece. Tight, internally clean and fresh; offsetting to the endpapers and wear at the outer hinges and tips, spine lightly cracked. Previous ownership of Thomas J. Carpenter, a mid-19th century New Jersey judge and bound personally for him with his name stamped in gilt at the foot of the spine. A very acceptable example. Item #E2158
