Frontispiece engraving "See in what Peace a Christian can die" by Chas Rollinson representing a scene between Joseph Addison at the time of his death and his nephew the Earl of Warwick (Felcone: New Jersey Books 604). 2 blanks, xviii, 19- 508 plus 12 pp. subscriber list, 2 blanks. Firm in its binding but with rubbing to the calf, chipping to the spine label. Staining to the first front blank, the second front blank bears the signature of the owner, Mary Boutton, and the date of "5th mo, 4th, 1809" The rear two blanks bear handwritten genealogical entries for the Boutton family ("Mary, daughter of Joseph and Rachel, born August the 21st at 5 o'clock in the afternoon Anno Domine 1780")and entries from Joseph (1743), Rachel (1748) and the death of the father in 1829 at age 86. Scattered light foxing to the text. Charles Drelicourt (1595-1669) was a French Protestant divine who authored several influential theological Christian works. This book was published in French in 1651 and gained wide readership in translation in Engand and later the American colonies. Very Good. Item #E20625
