A tight, generally fine example, spine stamping somewhat tarnished ; deacessioned from a church archive and so stamped in the copyright and introduction pages. An enlarged edition of Richmond's "Annals Of The Poor" with a biographical sketch of the author by his son-in-law. Contains "The Dairyman's Daughter", "The Negro Servant", "The Young Cottager", "The Cottage Conversation", "A Visit To The Infirmary". Legh Richmond (1772-1827) was an Episcopal clergyman and writer. He was best known for his inspirational tales which were based on stories he collected while living on the Isle Of Wight. The most famopus of these, "The Dairyman's Daughter" is thought to have been circulated in as many as four million copies from the time of its original publication in 1814. Fine. Item #E20441
