A near fine example with some toning to the top and right side of the front cover, tiny corner crease top rear cover. Kansas-born Angie Debo was a historian who specialized in the study of Native American peoples. She was proclaimed Oklahoma's "greatest historian" (she and her family moved to Oklahoma in a covered wagon when Angioe was 9 years old. She began a teaching career and published her first Native American piece (her dissertation) "The Rise and Fall of The Choctaw Republic" (1934) and her next work "Still Waters Run Deep" was a highly controversial examination of the government's depredations and treaty violations against the tribes It's publication caused her to be barred from teaching Oklahoma).
