This volume printed on the verso of the half-title "Exemplaire No. III Imprme Pour M. John Flanagan" and on the bottom of the rear cover "Examplaire sur Japon". 244 pp. Illustrated with striking wood blocks by Genevieve Rostan. Near fine, smll chip upper corner of rear wrap and some light toning to the spine strip. In the origial glassine dust wrapper, rather tattered and with spine strip lacking. Originally published in 1860, a seminal work on the effects of the use of opiates and hashish, influenced by De Quincey's "Confessions of an Opium Eater" and itself an inspriation for similar works of the 1960s.
