1926 Ind: Bobbs Merrill. First edition (not stated as called for). A fine, bright copy, slight bump top front corner. In the scarce, colorful dust jacket which has a 3/4' chip at the foot of the spine extending 1/4' onto front panel and shallow chipping top edges not affecting any lettering. This copy INSCRIBED by the author on the front fly: 'In the fond hope the reader will enjoy reading the first partial record of my happy past/Uncle Bob Sherwood/Last of Barnum's Clowns/2-9-45'. Sherwood, a protege of Barnum himself, he ran away from home to join the circus in 1867 at age nine.
