Illustrated with small engravings (labelled Plates A through V) in the text. The 24th edition, so stated on the title page. Good, with fade to the cloth, particularly on the spine strip (though the gilt lettering is readable). Occasional light staining and scattered foxing to the text. Contemporary pencilled ownership signatures front endpapers. Samuel Sheldon Smith graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia in 1828 and in 1829 published what was at the time considered one of the best books on dentistry to appear in America.
