Printed wrappers. 135 pp.. Frontispiece photograph of commanding officer Col. M.B. Stokes. One folding map and one map integral. Scarce history of the AEF's 311th Infantry of the 78th Division in World War I. Rather unusual in that this book was actually published in France rather than New York or Cologne as were the more common WWI unit histories. A record of the unit's movements and engagements from August, 1917 through March, 1919. Appendices includeroster of officers, decorationsawarded, rosters of companies, casualties, etc. Very good. An April, 1919 memorandum regarding ID photographs and identity cards laid in.
