One of 500 copies only privately printed for the Anglers' Club of New York by the Derrydale Press in January 1931. Slim 12mo. in blue- paper covered boards printed in dark blue. Errata slip tipped in at verso of copyright page. 25 pp. with photographic frontis and one additional plate of examples of dry flies. Quite scarce, as are all the early editions of the Anglers' Club. This is a tight, internally clean example, some light discoloration to the upper portion and bottom edge of the front board and some discoloration also to the rear board. Narrow tidemarking to the upper edge of both plates. Very slight wear at the lower extremities. In all, a very presentable example.

Near fine, offsetting to the front endpapers from a still-present old newspaper clipping regarding Hogan. In correct first edition dust jacket with no statement of printing and price of $3.00 (this price remained for the first several printings); some rubbing at edges, folds and extremities, spine faded and chipped at the haed and foot of spine. Scarce in first edition and particularly so in dust jacket.

The second edition. Collection of short pieces on the art of fly fishing by such noatable anglers as Orvis, Hallock, Henshall, Pinckney, etc and encompassing many aspects  of the sport from its poetry, skills, geographic regions (Florida, St. Ignace Island, Alaska, etc.) Very good, all gilt quite clear, some darkening to the outer 2" of the front cloth, modest wear at the spine ends. Outer edge of the text block is darkened but this does not affect the interior. Vintage 19th century bookplate front pastedown.

Forest green cloth lettered in gilt with small gilt design of a dry fly on front cover. xvii+216 pp. with appendix of "Proper Equipment for a Dry-Fly Angler Described Briefly" including a section describing the parts, colosr and appearance of a number of flies. Illustrated with drawings in the text. The first American full-sized work on dry-fly fishing, a work that resulted from a request to the author by Field and Stream Magazine in 1911 for a series of articles on American dry-fly fishing. A tight, very good example, front cover gilt bright with spine lettering just a touch less so. Minor wear at upper spine tips. Previous owner's signature front free endpaper. A small newspaper fishing poem clipping is affixed to the front endpaper with another affixed to the rear endpaper. Bit of faint tidemarking at the corners of the pages in the middle of the text block. A very acceptable example.

A generally fine example, hint of fade to the spine. In dust jacket worn and rubbed about the edges, split to the front gutter fold archivally repaired. The "autobiography" of one of ther greatest of all heavyweight boxing champs, Jack Dempsey, far more revealing than the 1940 version.
